A Christmas Update.

Sooo, been a while since I posted. Christmas has come and gone and well, I'm glad that part of the year is over. Maybe the new year will bring some much needed good news. Michael is still laid off, we are hitting the 2 month mark tomorrow. I am trying not to stress, just need to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. I have a new job working for FTD.COM. It was seasonal but I'm still there. Ihope they keep me. Michael's parents work him when they can, so that helps a LOT!

We had a good Christmas and enjoyed our time with family and friends. The Lord has blessed us and this year I think I remembered ther Real Meaning Of Christmas. I think I forgot over the past years and became very commercialized. Jordan, my 4 year old, reminded me of this. We were walking down the holiday isle at the store and what did my son see? It was not the Santa or the snowman or the reindeer. It was the Nativity scene with Baby Jesus in the Manger. It melted my heart. He knows from school that this is the real reason for the season. They even had a birthday party for Baby Jesus at school, complete with cake. He has just melted my heart with his innocence and honesty. I love my sons.

Jordan is doing good, he has had nearly three weeks off of school due to snow, ice, and Christmas break. I'm sure he will be ready to go back next week. He had a great Christmas and LOVES his Geo Tracks and bounce house.

Peyton is loving everything the same as big brother. We got him a vaccum cause the kid loves to play with mine. But he was very dissapointed as there was no suction power and no beater bar. We took it back and got him a big truck. He likes that much better, but would still prefer to play trains with big brother or bounce in the bounce house.

And just for the fun of it some pictures to amuse you.

It's Time For Christmas Trees!

Last week we went and got our Christmas tree. We had a good time and went with Robert, Michelle (Robert's Mom), Johnny, and Grandpa. IT was a great day to go and it was actually warmer up in the mountains than it was on the valley floor. Here is a slideshow for you to enjoy. There is a pic of Great Grandpa from Tday on here, too.

Gingerbread Jubilee

So, my dear friend, Rebecca, talked me into doing a gingerbread house for the Ginger Roger's Gingerbread Jubilee fundraiser this year. So, Jordan and I decided to do "The Three Little Pigs". We, or should I say, I started this project about a month ago. With little knowledge of decorating cakes,or even how to go about making gingerbread I started this journey. I did take pictures of the process, but have to download them off the big camera, that takes more time than I want to take right now. I learned how to use everyday food items and build things. For instance, Big Red gum became bricks and shredded wheat becomes straw. And because everything must be made out of food for the contest instead of using modeling clay for the pigs and wolf I used fondant and the expertise of my friend, Rebecca, to create them.

My helper... well sortof. He took a bite out of the wolf sign and scratched the mud.

The show is this weekend, Saturday thru Wednesday, at the Ginger Rogers theater. Come and enjoy the fun and the art!

Mr Independent

Now, I know that I have tried to raise my children to be independent, but I wasnt prepared for this.

This morning Jordan informs me that Dad was to take him to school today. Okay,no problem. Then we are on our way and he tells us that he didnt want Mommy OR Daddy to take him in. That he could do it by himself. What! What a minute! I'm sorry but your not old enough to go in by yourself yet. You are only four, is what I'm thinkin. So, Dad had to park across the parking lot and so I told him that I had to walk him across the parking lot and he could walk himself in. So, I get him across and let him go to school "on his own". Le sigh, my boy is growing up. So, while he is "walking to school on his own" I'm following about 20 steps behind ducking behind trees, other parents, and teacher's aides. Of course Mr. Independent has to stop and tell everyone that he told Mommy and Daddy he do it himself.

Like I said, I want him to be independent and I'm happy he is, I just want him to need me a little longer.

A VERY last minute mini vacation.

On Thursday Michael and I made a very last minute decision to go to his sister's house in Winnemucca, NV. I had three days off from babysitting and Michael had Friday and all this week off. So, 6pm Thursday we decided to leave on Friday. So, Friday morning the kids invaded our bed at 3:30am and dh and I gave up on sleeping and were gone by 5am. So, we went to Winnemucca and just hung out for a few days. Then we were supposed to come home on Sunday but I was really unmotivated so I called my daycre mommy and found out that I wouldnt have the baby so I didnt need to be home until her older one got out of school. Monday found out I didnt have to get the older one from school so we decided to then take the kids toVirginia City, NV to ride the train. That was the fun part of the trip. LOL We got home at about 8:30pm last night, man were we pooped. So, as usual, our trip in pictures.

He wrecked the firetruck!

Tonight Jordan had a seriously bad day. He first fell off the bar stool in the kitchen and then he wrecked his brother's firetruck. During his course of events he completely split open his chin. Ouch!

Mom to the rescue. I had to take 2 butterfly bandages and squeeze it together. I thought we needed a trip to the ER, but dad thought i was just a "scrape". Uh huh. I still think otherwise.

Well, the Jordan decided to use his face to help himself climb up into his bed. Yup, you guessed it. Started to bleed again. Really bad.

The operating table.

This time Mom decided to really gause it up good. Let's hope it holds and he doesnt bleed anymore.

Playing Suzy Homemaker

Today I got the bug to make stuff with fruit. So, I made 32oz of applesauceand 5-8oz containers of raspberry/strawberry freezer jam.

Now that I'm done I dont know why I havent made freezer jam before. It is so easy! Two bags of frozen fruit, yes I kno I could have used fresh but I didnt know when I would get to it and didnt want it to go to waste. So, 2 bags of frozen fruit, one strawberry and one rasperry. 1.5 cups of sugar, package of Bell's freezer jam mix, and boom! Your done. Well, almost. I used the food processor to crush my fruit. JOrdan thought it was yummy and asked for a bit in a bowl with a spoon. Silly boy.
